Exporting and Importing Excel
Use the dQuerySample Database and Customers Table that come with
dQuery for this example.
Export
to Excel
1. Start with a new blank Datamodule.
2. Double click the dQuerySample Database object from the 'Databases
and Tables' area to add it to the Design Surface.
3. Click and drag the Customers Table to the Design Surface.
4. Click the Export ‘Export Wizard’ button from the
Toolbar.
5. Choose ‘ Current Query.’ Next.
6. Choose ‘Excel Spreadsheet.’ Next.
7. Choose the Destination file and Name where you want to save the
new Excel file. Next
8. Check the box, Show Spreadsheet. (This will launch the spreadsheet
and you will see all your data in Excel.)
9. Finish.
Import
from Excel…
At this time, dQuery does not import column headings from Excel.
In Step #9, you will need to have the exact names and column letters
of the headings fron the Excel spreadsheet in order to map the fields.
We recommend printing the first page of the Excel spreadsheet so
you will have them in front of you.
1. Start with a new Datamodule.
2. Double click the dQuerySample Database object from the ‘Databases
and Tables’ area to add it to the Design Surface.
3. Click and drag the ‘Customers’ Table to the Design
Surface.
4. Click the ‘Import Wizard’ Toolbar button.
5. Choose Excel Spreadsheet. Next.
6. Find Source File ‘C:\Program Files\dBASE\dQuery\Samples\Companies.xls.’
Next.
7. Choose ‘Customers1.’ Next.
8. Set ‘Start Cell’ to A2 (since we are not importing
the headings) and ‘End Cell’
should be K397. Next.
9. The excel columns can now be mapped to the ‘Customers1’
Table.
At this time, you need to know what the columns in Excel are. Use
the print out of the first page to map to the column headings.
